Mine Layouts & Extraction Planning

Technical Explanation

This service involves the design of mine sites – from pit or underground tunnel layout, sequencing of extraction, location of waste dumps and processing plants, to haul roads and safety berms. It also covers creating Mining Plans which schedule the extraction of ore over the mine’s life (e.g. which sections to mine in what year) and ensure stable pit slopes or ground support. The aim is to maximize resource recovery safely and efficiently while complying with regulations and rehabilitation requirements.

Main requirements

Required for mining projects to obtain permits and operate. Needs geological models of the ore body, geotechnical analysis (for slope/tunnel stability), and environmental/social input (to plan waste disposal, mitigate dust, etc.). It also requires adherence to mining regulations and often periodic plan updates. A key requirement is to integrate mine planning with processing capacity and market demand, and to include closure planning (how the mine will be rehabilitated after use).
